Brand / Communication Design

The ADC Annual Awards has a century long history of championing breathtaking design work. The Brand / Communication Design discipline focuses on many traditional aspects of the graphic design world, from logos and corporate branding to posters and other promotional materials.

THE ADC 103RD ANNUAL AWARDS WILL OPEN FOR ENTRIES IN OCTOBER 2023.

ELIGIBILITY: January 1, 2023 - March 1, 2024

ARCHITECTURE / INTERIOR / ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN ELIGIBILITY: January 1, 2022 - March 1, 2024

INFORMATION: Project information is required on all entries. A detailed project description of 300 words or less is not required, but is highly recommended.

MEDIA: Each category accepts specific media types. Judging and Supporting media can be attached to your entry after your category is selected.

  • Judging Media: The primary material and content that the jury will be judging
  • Supporting Media: Secondary material and content that the jury may choose to review at their discretion
  • Reference Media: These images will be used for reference but will not be judged.



Brand / Communication Design
Branding

BCD-101: Branding - Annual Report

Overall design in a single (1) physical or digital annual report.

BCD-102: Branding - Branding Systems / Identities - Digital

Communication of brand identity utilizing digital mediums. May include a series (2-10) of assets for web, mobile, or any other interactive platform.

BCD-103: Branding - Branding Systems / Identities - Integrated

Communication of brand identity utilizing multiple mediums. May include a series (2-10) of digital, print, video and/or interactive assets.

BCD-104: Branding - Branding Systems / Identities - Print

Communication of brand identity utilizing print mediums. May include a series (2-10) of posters, print ads, collateral or any other physical assets.

BCD-105: Branding - Branding Systems / Identities - Television / Film / Online Networks

Communication of brand identity utilizing moving image. May include a series (2-5) of television, film, streaming or online video assets.

BCD-106: Branding - Logo

A single (1) or series (2-10) of static or dynamic graphic images that identifies a company or product while also communicating the brand.

BCD-107: Branding - Stationery

Communication of brand identity utilizing a single (1) or series (2-10) of business cards, envelopes, letterhead, memo pads, etc.

BCD-108: Innovation

A single (1) or series (2-10) that pushes creative boundaries in brand / communication design.

BCD-109: Posters - Billboard - Single

A single (1) large scale, outdoor billboard that is usually seen in cities or along major roadways.

BCD-110: Posters - Billboard - Series

A series (2-10) of large scale, outdoor billboards that are usually seen in cities or along major roadways.

BCD-111: Posters - Traditional - Single

A single (1) printed poster.

BCD-112: Posters - Traditional - Series

A series (2-10) of printed posters.

BCD-113: Posters - Wild Postings - Single

A single (1) poster placed in public spaces in a non-traditional way.

BCD-114: Posters - Wild Postings - Series

A series (2-10) of posters placed in public spaces in a non-traditional way.

Promotional

BCD-115: Promotional - Announcement / Invitation / Postcard / Greeting Card / Postage

A single (1) or series (2-10) of print or digital cards or postage that can be sent out, specifically relating to the brand or organization.

BCD-116: Promotional - Apparel

Design of a single (1) or collection (2-10) of wearable products intended to promote a brand.

BCD-117: Promotional - Booklet / Brochure / Catalog / Press Promotional Kit

Overall design in a single (1) or series (2-10) of informative short publications.

BCD-118: Promotional - Calendar

A single (1) printed or manufactured promotional calendar.

BCD-119: Promotional - Digital Communications

A single (1) or series (2-10) of e-blasts, newsletters, bulletins, etc.

BCD-120: Promotional - Self-Promotion

A single (1) or series (2-10) of assets designed to promote one's own business.

BCD-121: Promotional - Wildcard

A single (1) or series (2-10) of unique promotional materials that live outside of the aforementioned categories.

Rebranding

BCD-122: Rebranding

A change to the corporate image for an established organization or company. May include a series (2-10) of digital, print, video and/or interactive assets.

Design for Good

DFG-104: Design for Good - Brand / Communication Design - Single

Brand design that encourages positive societal or political change. May include a single (1) logo, promotional material, poster, etc.

DFG-105: Design for Good - Brand / Communication Design - Series

Brand design that encourages positive societal or political change. May include branding systems or a series (2-10) of promotional materials, posters, etc.
